Appetition – Tuba Quartet
Appetition is a new work for tuba quartet written in an intentionally contrasting style, with melodic sections that provide an opportunity for each instrument to take the lead, and a number of disjointed and somewhat dissonant sections that allow the raw power of low brass to be heard. Although melodically quite simple for the intermediate to advanced player, dynamic contrast and expression provide the basis of this piece’s effect; from the dissonant beginning, through the melodic bridge section, and to the climatic ending.
Also available as a trombone quartet arrangement. Alternative transpositions available on request
