Description
Léo Delibes (1836–1891) was a French Romantic composer celebrated for his ballets (Coppélia, Sylvia) and operas (Lakmé), but he also contributed charming smaller-scale works, including music for children and amateur choirs.
Voyage enfantin (A Child’s Journey) is a delightful secular chorus. The work is light, lyrical, and evocative. It reflects Delibes’ gift for graceful melody and vivid characterisation even in miniature form.
The piece is written in a Romantic style, with gentle harmonic shifts and playful rhythms that mirror the imagined journey of a child. It’s a lovely example of how Delibes could infuse even the simplest forms with elegance and charm.
