Originally composed for voices by Michael Praetorius around 1600, Es Ist Ein Rose entsprungen is a carol traditionally performed in Germany during Weihnachts (Christmas) celebrations. This simple arrangement for flute quintet (3 flutes, first flute doubling piccolo, alto flute and bass flute) is ideal for intermediate ensembles.
