Description
This march was written as a submission to a contest on The Mouthpiece.com a brass band related website. I was beaten by the wonderful Darrol Barry, whom I respect and admire as a brass band arranger and composer.
This march follows the standard pattern of street marches, with an opening section, followed by a dolce section, usually p with thin scoring and then a bass solo section before a contrasting trio section. Then there’s the usual DC al Fine, giving it the typical ternary form shape. I also made the trio in a contrasting 6/8 to the opening 2/4.
There are plenty of obbligato passages for the sop player to play with and lots of interest for all parts of the band.
