Description
A delightful Welsh lullaby, set here for Clarinet Quintet (Eb, Bb x 3, Bass).
There is a short intro, followed by the main melody, harmonised in the
traditional way, then an interlude followed by two restatements of the
theme on different instruments. Even the bass gets a look in.
This beautiful melody would suit a quiet moment in any concert. As an aside, it became famous as the theme of the film “Empire of the Sun” about the Japanese during WWII. The producers thought the title Suo Gan sounded like Shogun. I kid you not!
