Description
Vocal: A lovely hymn of consolation. Verses 1, 2 are set traditionally, while Verses 3, 4 reflect a Gospel tone. However, performers may choose either or both styles, substituting the lyrics between the sections. Performance time may run close to five minutes if taking all the repeats. Graded Advanced Intermediate because of the vocal demands within the Gospel section, which also lends itself to solos and vocal improvisation. Part of the “Hymns of Comfort” collection.
Piano Solo: Pianists may play solo or sing along. There are two arrangements within this Piano Solo: a traditional version transitioning to a Gospel style. Performers may choose to play either or both settings. Lyrics to Verses 1, 2 are inserted in the piano music, but one can substitute any of the verses (lyric page included). Practice suggestions included for executing 6/8 rhythmic values.
