String Quartet Op. 9
The present string quartet was composed shortly after my Abitur in my native Mainz. With this I wanted to apply as a young man to study composition and was able to free myself a little from the composition class of Friedrich-Karl Wanek at the Peter Cornelius Conservatory in Mainz, which was technically solid but very much tied to the intellectual music trends of the 20th century extraordinary participant was allowed to belong.
In addition to classical compositional technique, jazz and blues inspired me at that time. And not only the more experienced ears will notice the similarity to Chick Corea’s “Spain” in the first movement.
I wish you a lot of joy practicing and performing….
