Description

Entrance of the Gladiators was composed in 1897, and was initially cal;led Grande Marche Chromatique, due to the extensive use of chromatic scales within the piece.

Later Fucik changed the title to Entrance (or Entry) of the Gladiators. The title was changed to ‘Thunder and Blazes’ by Louis-Philippe Laurendeau, when he wrote it for military band. The piece then became popular as a piece to be used by a circus to get patrons hyped up.

Composer: Julius Fučík
