Description
Carl Nielsen was a Danish composer and conductor. He wrote six symphonies, two operas,
instrumental concertos (including the wonderful Clarinet Concerto op.57), chamber music and
countless songs and choral works. From the collection "Hymns and Sacred Songs, Fifty New Melodies
for Home, Church and School) (1912-1916)" there are seven pieces in this edition especially
arranged for clarinet quartet (the 4th part can also be scored with bass clarinet) or four
others instruments of the same tuning.
For a better understanding of the phrasing the first stanza of the original Danish text is
inserted in the first voice.
We play these wonderful quartets as an intonation exercise at the beginning of a rehearsal
or just in between to relax and enjoy...
