Description

Scored for 4 C Flutes, Alto and Bass Flute, Cats on the Town is a playful fun piece to represent a cat’s night out, rather like those scenes in cartoons- although it’s not cartoonesque!

It is through-composed, having 4 sections all in different keys to represent mood changes. The piece was written to try to capture some of the words you might use to describe our feline animated characters, words like curious, crafty, arrogant, self-important, slinky etc. The whole piece must be played as swung eighths as it features jazz and blues ideas to keep the vitality of the style-this together with walking bass lines, heavy stabs and off-beat accents, makes it a fun piece and great to add to the repertoire.

I have placed it at intermediate, although it is rather top end. It could be Advanced Intermediate in isolated bars!

However, the whole score is on the youtube link for you to assess suitability. It is around 5 mins 30 in length.

Price is for the Full score and all parts.
