Description
The five wonderous Tone poems entitled “Omar” by Australian Composer Frederick Hall are based on Edward Fitzgerald’s suggested translation of the Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám (1048 -1131), the medieval Astronomer – Mathematician – Poet of Persia.
Hall chose five of Omar Khayyám translated verses, which tell a story of romance in medieval Persia. Reminiscent of the tales of Sinbad, the Arabian Nights and Rimsky – Korsakov’s Scheherazade, the work vividly describes the themes of each poem. Fitzgerald’s suggested translation are included and can be projected on a screen or read before each work by a narrator (or conductor) to help create an enchanting work your audience will no doubt enjoy. For an Intermediate Level Ensemble.
