Description

Dudley Buck (1839–1909) was a prominent American composer, organist, and music educator during the Romantic era. He played a key role in shaping American sacred and choral music, especially through his work in churches and concert halls across the U.S. Buck studied in Leipzig and returned to the States with a European-influenced style that blended grandeur with spiritual depth.

Hymn to Music (1877) is one of Buck’s most poetic and spiritually resonant compositions. It was composed for the St. Cecilia Vocal Society of Brooklyn and published by G. Schirmer. The piece celebrates music as a divine and transformative art.
