Description
This is an arrangement for Oboe and Bassoon duet of Handel’s Arcadian
Duet for alto and soprano. Tanti strali is quite well known as a fine example of
Baroque vocal writing, but it also works very well on winds. This
arrangement has the duettists accompanied by string quartet and would
find its place in any baroque themed concert or a recital as it has 3
sections following the pattern Fast – slow – faster.
The last movement will present some challenges to
both soloists to get the semiquavers in, but it is well worth the effort
as the piece is absolutely beautiful.
Playing time 8′ 48″.
Parts supplied for Oboe, Bassoon, Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello. The
string parts could be played by a string quartet or by a small string
orchestra. (4,4,4,2)
