Description

Wedding receptions frequently are major family reunions, where everyone is excited to see each other and share stories. Similar to people talking and listening during conversation, the string quartet members share spirited melodic material in Wedding Day – Conversations for String Quartet. Different combinations of instruments exchange phrases in a call-and-response manner. Even the initial statement of the upbeat melody is divided into two- and four-bar units passed between violin II and cello. Although inspired by conversations at a wedding reception, this cheerful, light-hearted piece is very suitable for many types of performance.
